How to hide your IP Address with SSH Tunneling

If you want to hide your IP Address without using a VPN as advertised in the above image, than you must do your own VPN or you can use a Tunnel. It is not very difficult to create your own Tunnel but you need some tools, you need the following:
- a VPS (virtual private server) or dedicated server with Linux installed on it.
- a little software program named PUTTY (you can download it from here )
- FireFox

I will show you how you can redirect your internet traffic from your web-browser to your server, in this way your activity is hidden from your ISP and all your internet traffic will be on your linux server (VPS) - if you also erase all the logs from your Linux Server than your internet activity will be completely hidden.

Let`s start:

1. Open putty and log into your server (you need the IP address of your server , the port number that usually is 22 and the root password of your server) 

2. In the left side of your Putty software program, find Connection - SSH - Tunnels as shown in below picture:

3. Write a random port number in "Source port" and choose Dynamic in Destination field than click Add (look the photo below)

4. You can save this "settings" and next time it will not be required to do again the same steps as described above.

5. Open Putty

6. Than open your web-browser (in our case we are using FireFox) and go to "Tools" => "Options" => "Advanced" => "Network" => "Settings".
Choose "manual proxy configuration" => and enter "localhost" in the Host field, and enter the port you used in PuTTy (in the above screenshots it's 33000). Make sure to choose "Socks v5": (look the picture below) 

7. Save the changes (Click OK) and you are done!

8. Go to http://www.hide-your-ip-address.com and check your IP address, it should be the IP address of your server and not your network`s IP Address.
